Outreach

Highlights

I have been involved in far too many outreach events to list them all, but I have accumulated some highlights on this page.

Bayfordbury Observatory

During my MSc I organised private tours, and sometimes public open evenings, at the University of Hertfordshire's Bayfordbury Observatory. I still help out with events at Bayfordbury giving talks, planetarium shows and telescope tours.  I have also participated in a variety of  other STEM outreach events at Bayfordbury, working with a wide range of community organisations ranging from homeless shelters to amateur astronomy groups.

The UK's Biggest Portable Planetarium

For two years, I was a lead presenter on the University of Hertfordshire's 80-seater outdoor inflatable planetarium. We travelled accross the country to visit schools, festivals and town centres - with the sudden appearance of our giant mysterious dome often sparking fear of an alien invasion.

Think Space: How can we protect Earth from asteroid impacts?

I was invited to give a public lecture for the Royal Observatory Greenwich as part of their Think Space series. My lecture covered the topic of planetary defence, but also incorporates some of my own research. You can watch the lecture here, although some of it is now out of date.
